Why home visit physiotherapy?

There are many benefits of home visit physiotherapy as opposed to visiting a traditional clinic: firstly you don't have to find the extra time needed to visit a normal physiotherapy clinic - instead our physiotherapists come to you. Secondly assessment and treatment at home allows our physiotherapists the opportunity to see how your environment impacts upon you and your rehabilitation - this is especially important if you have a neurological condition or have had a joint replacement recently.  Thirdly for some people leaving the house can be a challenge and in this case home visit physiotherapy makes rehabilitation that much easier and more practical. 

What will it involve?

After making an appointment, a physiotherapist will come to your home at the day and time of your choosing, equipped with a plinth (massage/assessment table) and a bag with any other equipment they need. 

An initial physiotherapy assessment begins with a discussion to establish your goals, the nature of your problem, how it is affecting you and look over any relevant past medical history. This is followed by a physical examination in which your physiotherapist will look at a whole range of factors including movement, muscle strength, gait, balance and joint restrictions. Your physiotherapist will then explain the nature of the problem and will then discuss with you which treatment option would be most beneficial. Our physiotherapists have a wide range of available options including massage, spinal manipulation, acupuncture, sports massage and soft tissue release. At the end of the session the physiotherapist will explain any self-management strategies and exercises that you need to do in between sessions and book any follow up sessions needed.
