Welcome back once again to our physiotherapy blog. In the last few blogs we have looked at how we might be able to help with reducing falls and one of the major impacts of a fall - a broken hip. In this post I thought we could return to looking into the physiotherapy services that we offer in Tamworth. Specifically in this blog time we will have a look at our neurological physiotherapy service in Tamworth and areas such as Hopwas, Fazeley, Amington and Glascote.

Sometimes, when I am talking to patients who are investigating neurological physiotherapy in Tamworth the first question that they ask me is: "what is neurological physiotherapy?" I generally try to explain that neurological physiotherapy (often shortened to neuro physio) is physiotherapy that tries to help patients who have some form of neurological condition for example Multiple Sclerosis,or maybe they have had a stroke and are trying to help their recovery. Neurological physiotherapy is generally very "hands on" and works to help the patient with their movement patterns, independence and overall function. To see what neurological physiotherapy involves we can look at an example below:

Here our patient lives in the Tamworth area and has Multiple Sclerosis. She has had NHS physiotherapy in the past and can if needed have some further physiotherapy via the NHS but there is a long waiting list and she has decided that she wants more regular physiotherapy to help with her balance and mobility. After we have booked an initial assessment our neurological physiotherapist conducted a full and detailed assessment at her home in Tamworth, this looked at areas such as strength, posture, balance and movement patterns. The physiotherapist then used all of the information to devise a detailed treatment plan, a home exercise plan and set some goals to work towards. After this our physio then began visiting the patient at her home in Tamworth to work on her goals.

Although in this example we have looked at a patient in Tamworth with Multiple Sclerosis, our physiotherapy service in Tamworth can help patients with a variety of neurological conditions including: traumatic brain injury, recovery from brain surgery, stroke and Parkinson's Disease. Our physiotherapists deliver this neurological physiotherapy service in a range of settings including care and nursing homes and patients' own home in Tamworth.

Our physiotherapists have a large amount of fantastic feedback on their work available to view on our website under our testimonials section or if you prefer we have feedback available on our facebook page here and our google + page here.
