Physiotherapy in Walsall

Physiotherapy in WalsallHello and welcome back to the ThreeSpires Physiotherapy blog where we take a look at all things physiotherapy and health related. As our physiotherapy service is available in such a large area I have been trying to discuss and highlight the services that we offer in each area. So far we have looked at Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth and Cannock and looked at how our physiotherapists are able to help patients in those areas and the services that we offer such as neurological physiotherapy, paediatric physiotherapy and musculoskeletal physiotherapy. In this blog I thought that we could begin to look at our home visit physiotherapy service in Walsall and some of the physiotherapy services that we offer. Our physiotherapists visit patients across a large part of Walsall and visit areas in and around Walsall such as Rushall, Pelsall, Walsall Wood, Aldridge and Bloxwich to name but a few of the areas, so if you need physiotherapy and live in Walsall then we should be able to help.

Our Physiotherapy Services in Walsall

So firstly I guess one quick question that anyone reading this blog who is unfamiliar with our physiotherapy service may have is "why am I talking so much about our physiotherapy service specifically in Walsall?" Well, we are a home visit physiotherapy service and one of the many factors that makes our physiotherapy provision unique is that all of our physiotherapists visit their patients wherever they are - this can be at home in Walsall, in a place of work, in a gym or potentially in a care home in Walsall. So it is really important that we let people know what kinds of physiotherapy we are offering in each area and in this case the services that our physiotherapists are providing in Walsall.

So, what do we offer in terms of physiotherapy in Walsall? Well clearly, as mentioned, a key consideration is that we offer home visit physiotherapy in Walsall, which means that we do not have a physical clinic and that all of our physiotherapists travel out to their patients either at home or in a place of residence such as a nursing home in Walsall. In our next blog we will be looking in more detail at the differences between our home visit physiotherapy service in Walsall and going to a physiotherapy clinic in Walsall and why most of the time having a physiotherapist visit you will be the better option, however in this blog we shall concentrate on covering what physiotherapy services we offer in Walsall. Okay, so what are the physiotherapy services that we provide in Walsall?

1. Musculo-Skeletal Physiotherapy:

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in WalsallOne of our most popular physiotherapy services that we offer in Walsall is Musculo-Skeletal Physiotherapy. By this I mean any kind of problem that has a muscle, bone, ligament or tendon origin. This encompasses a wide range of problems from back pain and neck pain to tendinitis and generally involves manual therapy such as massage, trigger point release, spinal manipulation and a program of exercises. Our physiotherapists are very experienced at helping patients in Walsall with musculoskeletal problems and we have a large number of testimonials on our website and Facbeook page attesting to this. So, if you have any problems such as back or neck pain, a shoulder injury or knee pain and live in Walsall then one of our physiotherapists should be able to help you. We usually have short waiting times to see our physiotherapists for musculoskeletal issues such as back or neck pain as we understand that waiting long periods in pain is intolerable.

2. Neurological Physiotherapy:

Neurological Physiotherapy WalsallOne key part of our physiotherapy service in Walsall is neurological physiotherapy. This involves helping patients who either have a long term neurological condition such as Multiple Sclerosis or are recovering from the effects of a stroke. Here our physiotherapists concentrate on working with their patients in Walsall  to maximise their function, mobility, strength and quality of life with supervised exercises and also a program of exercises that they will need to do in between sessions. This is a vital service for many of our patients in Walsall who have reduced mobility and are working hard to regain their mobility. Here our home visit physiotherapy service in Walsall really comes into its own as most of our patients with a neurological condition have a difficulty with mobility and having their physio come out to them at home in Walsall really makes a difference.

3. Physiotherapy for Improving Elderly Mobility

Physio for Elderly WalsallAs we offer a home visit physiotherapy service clearly one of the main advantages of our physiotherapy service is that patients do not have to travel and our physiotherapists come out to them. This is especially helpful if the patient has significantly reduced mobility. As such we find that our physiotherapy service aimed at improving and maintaining mobility for elderly patients in Walsall is especially popular and successful. This involves one of our physiotherapists visiting the patient at home in Walsall and working on improving their strength and mobility over a period of time. In general the physiotherapist will visit the patient fairly often at the start and complete exercises with them until they have clearly begun to improve at which point physiotherapy sessions can be spaced out further as the patient is able to cope with doing their exercises independently.  Again we have a large number of testimonials available via our website or Facebook page that will show how successful we have been with our physiotherapy for elderly mobility in Walsall.

4. Orthopaedic Physiotherapy

Orthopaedic Physiotherapy WalsallAnother of our highly successful phyiotherapy services that we provide in Walsall is physiotherapy to help with recovery from orthopaedic operations such as joint replacements, ankle fractures, shoulder fractures or tendon re-attachments. Hip and knee replacements are extremely common operations and often they have very long recovery periods and physiotherapy to help strengthen and maximise mobility is extremely important. Often patients will have a hip replacment and will be having some NHS physiotherapy but find that either they are waiting too long for their appointments or that they wish to supplement this NHS physiotherapy provision. For this purpose we deliver physiotherapy in Walsall aimed at helping patients maximise their recovery after a variety of orthopaedic proedures. Our appointments are easy to organise around your schedule and we have a short waiting list as we believe that quick access to hugh quality physiotherapy is vital.

5. Sports Physiotherapy

Sports Physiotherapy WalsallA key part of our physiotherapy service in Walsall is seeing and treating patients who have a sporting injury such as a muscle tear or tendon problem. Quick access around yoru work schedule is a priority and we endeavour to make available short notice physiotherapy appointments for sporting injuries. Here our physiotherapist will assess the problem, provide a diagnosis, management plan and administer treatment such as manual therapy. Getting an early diagnosis and understanding of the problem is the key to recovering quickly from a sporting injury and our physiotherapists in Walsall have a range fo experience with different sports such as running, hockey, golf, climbing, surfing, football, tennis and squash to name but a few.

6. Physiotherapy in Care Homes

Physiotherapy Care Homes WalsallI guess considering we provide a home visit physiotherapy service it may seem obvious to some people that we offer a physiotherapy service in care and nursing homes in Walsall but in fact many people (even some who have been patients for other conditions!) are unaware of this. In fact our physiotherapy service in care and nursing homes in Walsall is extremely popular and successful. Our physiotherapists see many patients in care homes in Walsall every week, working with them to recover or maintain their strength, mobility and quality of life. Often our patients in care homes in Walsall will have recently lost mobility or strength and this has been picked up either by staff or relatives. At this point one of our physiotherapists in Walsall will complete an assessment and develop a management plan aimed at improving their strength. Often we find that even once fully recovered patients benefit from ongoing mobility sessions with one of our physiotherapy assistants.

Paediatric Physiotherapy in Walsall7. Paediatric Physiotherapy In Walsall

One of our most succesful and vital physiotherapy services that we offer in Walsall is paediatric physiotherapy. This is a highly specialised form of physiotherapy where a paediatric physiotherapist works with children and parents with a variety of conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Delayed Development, Torticolis and Plagiocephaly. Our paediatric physiotherapist is able to see children in Walsall with a wide range of conditions and will work with both the the child and the parents to maximise potentials and abilities. We have excellent reviews and testimonials for our paediatric physiotherapy service on our Facebook and Google pages for you to access.

The above list covers briefly the services and physiotherapy that we provide in Walsall and over the next few blogs I will be going into more detail about the specifics and benefits of each of the above physiotherapy services and how they can help anyone living in Walsall.

Lastly I thought it would be good to touch briefly upon a question I get asked regularly by patients looking for physiotherapy in Walsall.

Why Home Visit Physiotherapy in Walsall?

A common misunderstanding that many people have when starting to look for a physiotherapist in Walsall is that they think that they are going to have to search for a physical physiotherapy clinic based in Walsall and that they will benefit from having access to the facilities of that clinic. I myself and all of the physiotherapists at ThreeSpires Physiotherapy have worked as physios in a physiotherapy clinic before and we can confirm that mostly there is no added benefit to a patient in going to a physical physiotherapy clinic and in fact they are much better off with having a physiotherapist come out and visit them at home. As I have discussed previously and in earlier physiotherapy blogs, the greatest asset of any physiotherapy clinic is not the equipment and bricks and mortars. It is the physiotherapists and their expertise and experience. Very occasionally we do have patients in Walsall that need access to specialist equipment or imaging facilities and in those cases we are always very happy to refer them onwards but most of our patients in Walsall are much better served by being seen at home by their physiotherapist. Initially some of our patients when first seeing one of our physiotherapists in Walsall (for example with back pain) wonder if they need to be able to use machines or specialised gym equipment but the truth is that for 99% of the time in a physiotherapy clinic in Walsall patients are very unlikely to be making use of any specialised machinery.

For our patients in Walsall, Rushall, Walsall Wood and Pelsall, having one of our physiotherapists travel out to them, at a time of their choosing and avoiding the extra time of travel to and from a physiotherapy clinic themselves is an enormous advantage and they often can't believe that they ever used to bother going to a physical clinic. Our reviews on Facebook, Google and our website are evidence of the quality of our service and how happy our patients are with our physiotherapists.

In the next blog post we shall continue looking at the advantages of our home visit physiotherapy service in Walsall over visiting a physical clinic in Walsall for physiotherapy.
