Why home visit physiotherapy?

Home visit physiotherapy provides many benefits that are missed by visiting a traditional physiotherapy clinic. To begin with, you don't have to find extra time  in your day or week to travel to a clinic - instead our physiotherapists come out to you and save you that time. Secondly, there is a clinical benefit from being assessed and treated at home, this allows the physiotherapist to see how your environment impacts upon you and your condition - this is a key element if you have a neurological condition such as Multiple Sclerosis or are recovering from a stroke. Lastly, many patients  - especially after a large operation such as a hip replacement find leaving the house painful and difficult and in this case home visit physiotherapy makes accessing rehabilitation more practical. .

What will it involve?

Once you have arranged an initial appointment, a chartered physiotherapist will come out and see you at home, they will be fully equipped with a plinth (massage/assessment table) and a bag with other equipment they may need. 

An initial physiotherapy assessment and treatment session will start with a verbal discussion to establish the nature of your problem, how it is affecting you, look at your goals and examine any past medical history. A physical examination follows in which a range of factors including muscle strength, gait, balance and posture are analysed to determine their contribution to any underlying dysfunction. The nature of the problem and treatment options available will then be explained clearly in order to give you a comprehensive picture of the problem. Our chartered physiotherapists offer  a range of treatment modalities including massage, spinal manipulation, acupuncture, sports massage and soft tissue release. Finally at the conclusion of the session any exercises that you need to complete between sessions in order to maximise your recovery will be explained and your physiotherapist will book any follow up sessions required.
