Why home visit physiotherapy?
Our home visit physiotherapy service offers many benefits that traditional physiotherapy clinics are unable to provide. Firstly, there is no requirement for you to find extra time to travel to a physical clinic's location - instead one of our physiotherapists will come out to you thus saving you time. Secondly, being assessed and treated at home offers a clinical benefit as this allows the physiotherapist to assess the way in which your environment impacts upon your condition. This is a vital element in your rehabilitation and recovery process if you have a neurological condition such as Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy or are recovering from a stroke. Thirdly, many patients - especially after a large operation such as a knee or other joint replacement find walking and leaving the house painful and difficult and for these patients home visit physiotherapy is an ideal solution. We also offer a paediatric physiotherapy service for young children, babies and toddlers and for these children and parents having a physiotherapist that can visit at home or school is vital.
What will it involve?
After an initial appointment has been arranged, a chartered physiotherapist will visit you at home, they will have a plinth (massage/assessment table) and a bag with other equipment they may need for the session.
The first physiotherapy session will start with a discussion to determine the way in which your problem is affecting you, examine your goals and go over any relevant past medical history. A thorough physical examination will then follow: this looks at a whole host of factors including - muscle strength, gait, balance, posture and range of motion at various segments in order to determine any underlying dysfunction. Your physiotherapist will then discuss the nature of the problem and what treatment options are appropriate and available, this is a vital part of the session as it is important you have a good understanding of the problem. Our chartered physiotherapists are able to utilise a host of treatment modalities including massage, spinal manipulation, acupuncture, sports massage and soft tissue release. At the conclusion of the session any exercises that you need to complete to maximise your recovery will be explained and any follow up sessions required will be booked
