Why home visit physiotherapy?
Home visit physiotherapy offers an array of benefits as opposed to visiting a traditional physiotherapy clinic, Firstly there is no need to find additional time in your day or week to visit a clinic - instead our chartered physiotherapists will do that for you and come out to you at home. Next, home visit physiotherapy offers a clear clinical benefit - that of being assessed and treated at home which enables the physiotherapist to assess how your home environment affects you - this is vital if you have a neurological condition or have had a joint replacement recently. Finally, some patients find leaving the house to be a real challenge and for these people home visit physiotherapy makes rehabilitation easier and more practical. We also offer a highly specialised paediatric physiotherapy service for babies, toddlers and children of all ages and are able to provide therapy either at home or at school.
What will it involve?
After you have made an appointment, one of our chartered physiotherapists will come and visit you at home at the pre-arranged time and day. They will come equipped with a plinth (massage/assessment table) and a bag with any other equipment they need.
All initial physiotherapy assessments start with a verbal discussion to get a good picture of your situation - this will cover aspects such as past medical history, your current problems, how things started and your goals of treatment. Next there is a comprehensive physical examination - here the physiotherapist will look at a range of factors including your posture, gait, balance, strength and range of motion at key joints. Your physiotherapist will then discuss their diagnosis and explain what the best treatment and management strategies are. Treatment then takes place, our physiotherapists have a wide range of treatment options including massage, spinal manipulation, acupuncture, myofascial release and dry needling. Finally the session will conclude with an explanation of self-management strategies and exercises to do before your next session and at this point any follow up sessions needed will be booked.
