How can ThreeSpires Physiotherapy help?
We are able to offer specialist exercise programmes created by chartered physiotherapists and designed to meet each individual's needs. We are based in Lichfield and this physiotherapy service is available in Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth, Cannock, Rugeley and Walsall. The exercise programmes are created after having an initial and detailed physiotherapy assessment at home with one of our experienced physiotherapists. All of our physiotherapists have experience of working with elderly patients with a variety of conditions including joint replacements and neurological and problems and will be able to design an exercise programme that is tailored to your individual needs.
There are many reasons for having an exercise programme designed by a physiotherapist:
- Patients are often discharged from hospital after an illness which has reduced their mobility and confidence and they are unsure of what they should and shouldn't do. In this case having an assessment at home (for example in Lichfield) by a physiotherapist and then following an exercise programme which has designed by them and you know to be safe is an excellent idea.
- Sometimes an elderly relative may be wanting to begin exercising after a long period of inactivity and they (or you!) may be worried about what they should do, how it would be best to start and what exercises to do. In this case an assessment by a physiotherapist of their needs and any underlying medical conditions is a great idea. This allows an exercise programme to be tailored specifically to their needs that is safe and will enable them to build confidence.
- Some patients will have an existing neurological condition such as Parkinson's Disease or have suffered a stroke and may have had an exercise programme in the past but have stopped following it and forgotten what they were meant to do. For these patients a new exercise programme designed by a physiotherapist is a fantastic way of improving movement and strength.
- An existing medical condition such as a heart problem may be giving you or your elderly relative concern about safely beginning an exercise programme. In this case an assessment at home by a physiotherapist can provide reassurance about any safety concerns and an exercise programme that is designed to be safe and meet their needs.
Our home visit physiotherapy service is based in Lichfield and is available anywhere within a 25 minute drive in areas such as Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth, Rugeley, Cannock or Walsall. We have experience of treating a large range of conditions and are able to deliver a wide range of services including neurological physiotherapy, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, acupuncture, paediatric physiotherapy, post-operative rehabilitation and also help improve the mobility of elderly patients.
What will it involve?
After making an appointment, a physiotherapist will visit you or your relative at home, a full verbal history will be taken by your physiotherapist to get a good picture of your situation followed by a physical examination. Your physiotherapist will then explain clear any problems, the reasons for any exercises selected to be included in your programme and will then run through each exercise individually to make sure you are using correct form and understand what you should be doing. Your physiotherapist will also provide you with a written copy of the exercises that you should be doing.
